The characteristics of the moon are almost completely different compare to Earth's. The characteristics are different because the moon has a relatively weak gravitational force and the moon is in a vacuumed environment. Just think about what we could initially do to the moon once we get there. We could create moon stations that could make rockets; and telescopes so that we could study and explore deep in space in the long term.
Having rockets on the moon would be better than having it on Earth. On Earth, the rockets would need plenty amount of fuel so it could be pulled away from the Earth's gravity and fly through air resistance. On the moon, however, the rocket would not need as much fuel as you need it on Earth, because the air resistance would be absent. This would be a cheaper way to fund a project to launch something in space.
If we were to construct a humongous telescope on the moon's surface, it would be better than Hubble's Telescope. The reason for that is because the telescope would be a whole lot bigger than the one orbiting Earth, and it would be placed on the moon with the absent of the atmosphere. Just imagine what we would see through those lens; there could be things that are waiting to be discovered. Maybe we would detect life, who knows?
If we do not colonize the moon, we would be stuck on Earth until then. The reason for that is because the amount of fuel that the rocket needs to launch from Earth. Also, Telescopes would not advance to the moon due its size to carry on board on the rocket. If we do explore deeper in space and carry a large telescope on board, it would be costly.
There are many possibilities to do on the moon with its unique environment. We have many questions that are unanswered that needs to be answered. The new ways of studying space from the moon would be remarkable because we might answer our unanswered questions like if there is life out there. I just hope that there will be another moon mission in my lifetime at least.
Colonizing Outer Space
The human expansion throughout our universe would be beneficial to us. There are things that are waiting to be discovered in outer space.

First Step of Expanding Humanity Throughout Space
Living on our moon would be extraordinary because it would be the first step to expand humanity throughout space. It is good to expand humanity because we are in the process of overpopulating our planet. Just imagine how fun it would be to discover the new things in outer space and to experience the environments of the moons and the planets in our solar system. I could see ourselves travelling to our moon in the near future due to the fact that it would only take about 3 days to get there from Earth.
The only way we could live on our moon is by living in a glass dome, because we are adaptive to the Earth's environment for years and the moon's environment is not even close to that. We need a glass dome that would provide oxygen and provide protection from the solar radiation. It also needs to provide the right amount of pressure and temperature for us. The temperature cannot be too hot nor too cold; the pressure cannot be too high nor too low or it would be impossible to be living there.
I still think it is nice to live in the dome on the moon. However, some people would not want to be living in the glass dome, because they would feel like their freedom of exploring new areas would be taken away. Other than that, the only problem of living on the moon, however, is that we cannot control gravity. Since the moon's gravity is really low compare to Earth's, our muscles would become weak because it would get used to moon's gravitational force. If people were to live there for about a year or so and they come back to Earth, they would have a hard time walking around here due to their muscles weaken by the lack of Earth's gravity.
Due to the moon's relatively weak gravitational force, new sports would be invented and there would be new ways of transportation. Transportation would require less energy because of the moon's gravity. Instead of walking to school like we used to on Earth, we could hop our ways to school on the moon with less effort.
It is a shame that we have stopped going to the moon for about forty years due to the lack of funds. If we did not stop going, we would be living on the moon right now and possibly living on Mars. However, we will make that happen in the future.
